#E300 Newarke Houses Museum |
During 2017, Freemasons will be celebrating 300 years of Freemasonry: marking the Tercentenary of the formation of the first Grand Lodge of Freemasons in the world. On 24th June 1717 four London Lodges, whichhad existed for some time, came together at the Goose and Gridiron Tavern in St Paul’s Churchyard and declared themselves a Grand Lodge. This Grand Lodge ultimately became the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) in 1813 when it joined together with another Grand Lodge which was set up in 1751. The Province of Leicestershire and Rutland are holding several events during 2017 to celebrate this milestone. We hope you and your families will join us and enjoy the celebrations.
